<<Back Frequently Asked Questions : 219 The transfer of a .au domain name typically takes 2 days from the time that the domain Administrative Contact authorises the domain transfer. Domain transfers follow the procedures outlined in auDA's Transfers policy (change of registrar) as follows: Transfers (Change of Registrar of Record) Policy (2003-03) Policy No: 2003-03 Publication Date: 14/03/2003 Status: Current
Upon receipt of the acceptance of the transfer from the registrant contact, name.com.au notifies the .au Registry of the pending transfer, and the status of your domain will then change to "PENDINGTRANSFER". The domain will be in "PENDINGTRANSFER" status for 2-days, after which time the domain will be transferred to name.com.au management by the Registry. During the transfer process the domain remains active and all DNS services continue to resolve, however you cannot make any changes to the domain records during the "Pending Transfer" status period. When the domain name transfers completes you can manage the domain using the name.com.au account management login. NOTE: Your credit card will be billed at the time the domain transfer is submitted. If the domain transfer does not successfully complete or it is cancelled at your request, we will refund the credit card. For a glossary of domain transfer terms click here.
