How do I change the Registrant of a gTLD domain name (.com, .net, .biz, .info, .org)?

NOTE: The domain name needs to be Registered with name.com.au for us to be able to submit this on behalf of the Registrant. A fee of $10.00 must be charged to the gaining Registrant during this process, the charge includes 1 year registration.

Please follow these instructions to submit a change of Registrant for a gTLD.
  1. The new Registrant of the domain name must have a member account in our system.
    • Please log a support ticket and include the new member information for us to create an account.
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • E-mail
      • Address
      • City
      • State
      • Postcode
      • Phone Number
      • Username
      • Password

    • If the new Registrant is a part of a Company, you will also need to include the Company details.
      • Company Name
      • Address
      • City
      • State
      • Postcode
      • ABN/ACN (if applicable)

  2. The current Registrant of the domain name must fax us on 03 8080 1623 with a request to transfer the Registrant of the domain name. Please include the following.
    • Written request signed by the current Registrant.
    • The current username and password of the account in which the domain name belongs.
    • The new username and password of the account where the domain name will be transferred. (Refer to step 1.)

  3. Once you send this document please allow 24 hours for it to be processed. We will then create an invoice which will be emailed to the new Registrant.
  4. The new Registrant must pay the Change of Registrant fee by logging in to their management area with their username and password. Please inform us when the payment has been made by emailing support@name.com.au with the heading C.O.R FEE PAID: <your domain>.COM
  5. The new Registrant of the domain name will be notified by us once the change is complete.
NOTE: It may take up to 5 days for the Registrant details to be updated in a whois search.
